February 20, 2017 The Civil Service Commission (CSC) reminded state workers to strictly observe government working hours. The CSC issued the reminder through Memorandum Circular No. 1, series of 2017 reiterating the policy on government office hours, and penalties for unauthorized absences, tardiness in reporting for duty, and loafing during office hours. The statement came after reports on government officials and employees not observing prescribed offices hours and failing to account for their attendance. “These acts are detrimental to public service thus we are reminding all government workers of all departments and agencies to render eight hours of work from Monday to Friday, or not less than 40 hours a week,” said CSC Chairperson Alicia dela Rosa-Bala. The Civil Service Commission (CSC) reported that 47 out of 953 examinees or 4.93% passed the Career Service Examinations (CSE) held in Kowloon, Hong Kong on November 27, 2016. September 14, 2016 Gov’t choirs compete, urge public to show ‘malasakit sa kalikasan’. The 6th Government Choral Competition second-time Grand Champion, Tagum City Chamber Choral, celebrates its victory over seven (7) other participating choral groups namely: Bayugan City Educators Chorale (1st Runner Up), Pag-IBIG Fund Chorale (2nd Runner Up), Pangasinan Provincial Chorale (3rd Runner Up), Dasmariñas City Teachers Chorale, Guimaras Capitol Chorale, Davao City Teachers Chorale, and Bangko Sentral Singers. The eight choral group finalists in the 2016 Government Choral Competition perform Dante Beriong’s “Mabuhay Ka, Pilipino” last September 13, 2016 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The Civil Service Commission (CSC) seconded Malacañang’s reminder to government employees to follow regulations on work hours.
/>Under Section 5, Rule XVII of the Omnibus Rules Implementing Book V of Executive Order No. 292, all government officials and employees are required to render eight working hours a day for five days a week, or a total of 40 hours a week excluding time for lunch. The normal working hours shall be from 8 AM to 12 NN, and 1 PM to 5 PM.

September 5, 2016 Civil servants run for a cause. Around 15,000 runners joined the R.A.C.E. to Serve VI Fun Run held September 3, 2016 at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila. The Fun Run kick-started the month-long celebration of the 116th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, headed by the Civil Service Commission. Proceeds from the event will go to the Pondong Pamanang Lingkod Bayani (PLBi), a program that recognizes public servants who were killed in the line of duty. Immediate family members of qualified deceased employees receive scholarships and financial assistance through the said program. This year’s anniversary theme, “Sigaw ng Lingkod Bayani: Malasakit Para sa Taumbayan, Kapwa Kawani, at Kalikasan” highlights compassion or malasakit with action in public service as a response to the public's clamor for better, faster, and easier transactions.
