Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chairperson Karlo Nograles led the 2023 oath taking of 14 newly conferred and upgraded career scientists on 13 September 2023 at the Prime Hotel in Quezon City. 

Together with Chairperson Nograles during the ceremony were Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary and Scientific Career Council (SCC) Chair Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr.; National Academy of Science and Technology Director and SCC Executive Secretary Luningning E. Samarita-Domingo; National Research Council of the Philippines President and SCC Member Dr. Leslie Michelle M. Dalmacio; as well as SCC Special Technical Committee Chairs Fabian M. Dayrit, Eufemio T. Rasco, Jr., and Estrella F. Alabastro. 

Chairperson Nograles, who concurrently holds the position of co-chair of the SCC, noted that the oath-taking ceremony is a celebration of a new chapter in the scientists' career journey. It also serves as a validation of their excellence as they now belong to a distinct group who also hold an immense responsibility as torchbearers of knowledge. 

Thousands of civil servants are called to participate in the nationwide blood drive organized by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) from 19 to 21 September to celebrate the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA)

CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles noted that the CSC, in partnership with the Department of Health - Philippine Blood Center (PBC) and SM Supermalls, organized the bloodletting activity with the theme “Dugtong Buhay, Handog ng Lingkod Bayan” to highlight the third week of Civil Service Month and encourage government workers to help increase blood reserves.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), the blood drive will be held in three locations: at the CSC Resource Center in Batasan Hills, Quezon City, at the PBC Building on Quezon Ave., Quezon City, and at SM Mall of Asia (Music Hall), Seaside Boulevard, Pasay City on 19, 20, and 21 September, respectively.

Government officials and employees from various offices nationwide joined the online Zumba organized by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) on 1 September 2023, to kick off the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) celebration.

CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles together with Commissioners Aileen Lourdes Lizada and Ryan Alvin Acosta led the online Zumba organized by the CSC Regional Office I as part of the institution’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the mental and physical well-being of civil servants.

“To the 1.9 million-strong workers of government, a very happy and dynamic 123rd PCSA to all of us. This morning’s activity marks the start of the month-long activities we have rigorously prepared and waited for these past few months. Building upon the success of last year's Online Zumba and Film Showing, in partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), we are once again hosting these events to promote workplace recreation and alleviate the pressures of our work,” said Chairperson Nograles.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is set to confer the Local Treasurer Eligibility to 1,018 individuals who passed the Basic Competency on Local Treasury Examination (BCLTE) held on 11 June 2023. This figure represents 18.09 percent of the 5,626 total number of examinees.

Jenny B. Sagario from Region IX topped the BCLTE with a rating of 92.62.

The list of the exam's highest achievers is completed by the following individuals and their respective scores: Charlie C. Bastida (Region X) with a rating of 92.31; Leynette Joy A. Lepaopao (Region X) with a score of 92.00; Neil R. Dacoylo (Region VII) and Marianne S. Irabagon (Region III), both earning a rating of 91.69; Janine F. Giltendez (Region VII), Niña L. Alviar (Region IV), and Romiel P. Mariñas (Region II) with 91.38; Jerome D. Estores (Region IV) with a rating of 91.08; and Denis Y. Maguiwe, Jr. (Cordillera Administrative Region), Jonathan S. Advincula (Region XII), and Flor Mae R. Gahi (Region VII), all achieving a rating of 90.77.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) launched the amended Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9242 or the Philippine Tropical Fabrics (PTF) Law on 30 August 2023 in Quezon City.

The legislation mandates the use of PTF for the official uniforms of government officials and employees.

CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles spearheaded the occasion, accompanied by fellow members of the Inter-Agency Technical Working Group (TWG), which includes representatives from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Department of Agriculture (DA). The event also enjoyed the presence of CSC Commissioners Aileen Lourdes Lizada and Ryan Alvin Acosta, along with representatives and officials from private stakeholders, demonstrating their solidarity and endorsement of the initiative.
