Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chairperson Karlo Nograles reminded the 1.8 million workforce of government to promote environmental conservation and sustainability as the country celebrates Philippine Environment Month this June, and joined the global observance of World Environment Day today, 5 June 2023.

Chairperson Nograles emphasized the responsibility of government employees to safeguard the nation’s resources as part of their duty to uphold public interest.

“Bilang mga kawani ng gobyerno, inaasahan na tayo ang syang mangunguna sa pagprotekta sa yaman nang bansa hindi lang para sa ating pansariling kapakanan kundi bilang bahagi ng ating tungkulin na itaguyod ang pampublikong interes,” he said.

Civil Service Commission Chairperson Karlo Nograles urged civil servants to strive for patriotism by always respecting the Philippine flag as the country observes National Flag Days from 28 May to 12 June 2023.

Chairperson Nograles reminded government officials and employees of their sworn oath to observe the eight (8) norms of conduct mandated under the Republic Act (R.A.) No. 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, which include “nationalism and patriotism”.

“Bilang mga kawani ng gobyerno, ugaliin po nating ipakita ang paggalang sa watawat hindi lang dahil sa ating sinumpaang tungkulin kundi dahil sa marubdob na pagmamahal sa bansa,” said Chairperson Nograles.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) conducted a two-day program for the agency’s frontline leaders during the 2023 Field Directors Conference on 24-25 May 2023 at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) Conference Center in Tagaytay.

CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles, together with Commissioners Aileen Lourdes Lizada and Ryan Alvin Acosta, led the assembly aimed to build solidarity and equip the field directors in 108 CSC Field Offices nationwide with new methods and strategies in leadership needed to address challenges on the ground.

“As our frontliners in the field offices, your inputs and suggestions on our policies and services based on your experiences are most important for the CSC to truly become an organization that is able to deliver the services that the Filipino people deserve,” said Chairperson Nograles.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) conducted a virtual conference for the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) aimed at further advancing gender mainstreaming in the region.

Held on 23 May 2023 via Zoom, the activity was organized by the CSC through the Civil Service Institute with support from the ASEAN Secretariat.

A total of 26 attendees representing key organizations participated in the event. These included representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat, the ASEAN Cooperation on Civil Service Matters, and the ASEAN Committee on Women from the nine member states such as Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Chairperson Karlo Nograles reminded first-time jobseekers eyeing government positions that they may request for a copy of a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from CSC free of charge.

Chairperson Nograles said that individuals applying for employment in career service positions for the first time may avail of one (1) original and one (1) authenticated copy of COE at no cost pursuant to CSC Resolution No. 2000363, which was issued on 21 February 2020 in compliance with Republic Act (R.A.) No. 11261 or the First Time Jobseekers Assistance Act (FTJAA).

The said law provides that government agencies shall collect no fees or charges from a first-time jobseeker (FTJ) provided that the payment is paid in connection with the application documents usually required for employment.
