Civil servants run for a cause. Around 15,000 runners joined the R.A.C.E. to Serve VI Fun Run held September 3, 2016 at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila. The Fun Run kick-started the month-long celebration of the 116th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, headed by the Civil Service Commission. Proceeds from the event will go to the Pondong Pamanang Lingkod Bayani (PLBi), a program that recognizes public servants who were killed in the line of duty. Immediate family members of qualified deceased employees receive scholarships and financial assistance through the said program. This year’s anniversary theme, “Sigaw ng Lingkod Bayani: Malasakit Para sa Taumbayan, Kapwa Kawani, at Kalikasan” highlights compassion or malasakit with action in public service as a response to the public's clamor for better, faster, and easier transactions. Spearheading the Fun Run was CSC National Capital Region, in coordination with partners and sponsors: National Parks Development Committee, City Governments of Pasay and Manila, Department of Public Works and Highways National Capital Region, Philippine Sports Commission, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Philippine National Police (PNP), PNP Aviation Security Group, Manila Police District, Government Service Insurance System, and Maynilad.
