Eight (8) choral groups will compete for the grand prize in the 2017 Government Choral Competition (GCC) to be held September 20, 2017 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) announced that the finalists are Commission on Audit Central Office/National Capital Region Choral, the Government Service Insurance System Chorale, City Choir of San Fernando, Department of Education Catanduanes Division Choral, Palayan City Employees Chorale, Bayugan City Educators Chorale, DepEd Cabadbaran Chorale, and Tagum City Chamber Chorale.

The board of judges was composed of choral experts and music personalities endorsed by the Philippine Choral Directors Association.

The GCC is one of the major events to celebrate the 117 th Civil Service Anniversary in September. Other events for the Civil Service Anniversary include the R.A.C.E. to Serve Fun Run to be held at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila and in other venues nationwide on September 3, 2017, the 2017 Search for Outstanding Government Workers awards rites, and the Anti-Red Tape Act or ARTA Caravan.
