Good afternoon. I'm Julius Aleman po from region ix. I just want to inquire about the policy regarding designation.

Can a government employee refuse a designation issued by the head of office? My wife received an order designating her as a member of the BAC Secretariat. She responded through a letter asking for her removal or lifting of the designation. She asked for the same due to the bulk of responsibilities already assigned to her. She was a former BAC Secretariat Chairperson and was removed. After which, another committee was delegated to her to present.

Please enlighten me on the said matter. Thank you.

Hi,
Please be informed that as a matter of policy, this Commission does not render opinion/ruling on issues that may eventually be, or is actually, a subject of a complaint or appeal before it.

Be that as it may, please be advised that Section 13(c)(5), Rule IV, 2017 ORAOHRA provides that a designation be made through an office order by the appointing officer/authority. Thus, it is an official action whereby refusal to comply may give rise to an administrative disciplinary case against the employee who refuses to comply with an official order.

It is hoped that we have guided you on the matter.
