Mark Kristofer Querubin created the topic: Question on the possible duration of an appointment in process
Greetings,

I was called by the agency HRDS last 11 August 2020 that I have been selected and recommended by the hiring board/ committee to be appointed to a vacant position posted at the agency's website last 12 December 2019. I was asked to submit my PDS and Authenticated Certificate of Eligibility last 24 August 2020. Upon inquiring to the agency HRDS, I was told last 02 September 2020 that given the current status of the appointments it may take an additional 30-45 days to complete the appointments and have it signed by the head of the agency.

I inquired the exact status of my appointment and was told last 06 October 2020 that the appointment papers are still at the office of the Deputy Director General of the agency. I am aware that the power of appointment is discretionary, and up to the appointing authority of the agency, and that there is no timeline or deadline set by the CSC or by law in which appointments should be signed. Relative thereto, I would like to ask if this means that it is entirely possible to not have my appointment papers signed by this year? Thank you.

Thank you for your query. As you correctly stated, there is no provision in the Civil Service Law, rules and regulations requiring the appointing authority to sign/issue an appointment within a certain period of time. Thus, we cannot determine with certainty when the appointing authority of the agency where you applied will sign your appointment. However, you can follow-up with them from time to time.
