Thank you for making the anniversary celebration a success!

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) thanks all government workers, partners and sponsors, participants, netizens, and members of the media for making the 121st Philippine Civil Service Anniversary a success. Led by the CSC, the anniversary month was celebrated by 1.7 million government workers in the Philippine government.

September is a special month for all civil servants because it marks the birth of the civil service on 19 September 1900 by virtue of Public Law No. 5 (An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of an Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands). Presidential Proclamation No. 1050, series of 1997 also declares the month of September as the Civil Service Month.

The CSC introduced a 10-year overarching theme, Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant-Heroes, reflecting the gains of last year’s digital transformation efforts in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the role of HR in building a competent and credible workforce in the new normal.

The CSC responded to the pandemic by issuing a series of HR policies to introduce flexible work arrangements and modernized HR procedures, as well as to emphasize employee welfare and safety. These HR policies guided government workers in navigating the new normal and achieving work-life balance as well.

Headed by Chairperson Alicia dela Rosa-Bala and Commissioner Aileen Lourdes A. Lizada, the CSC hosted a series of national events for government workers, the public, and the media.
